INSURANCE SECTOR CONSULTATION MEETING HELD AT THE BANDIRMA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Insurance Sector Consultation Meeting, organized by the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce, was held on 3 June 2026 in the Chamber’s Assembly Hall with strong participation from insurance professionals and industry representatives. The meeting brought together insurance agencies operating in Bandırma to discuss current challenges facing the sector and explore possible solutions.

Key topics included unfair competition within the industry, the uncontrolled increase in the number of insurance brokers and the lack of effective oversight, the mandatory inclusion of insurance products in banks’ lending processes, issues encountered during policy issuance, difficulties related to claims and loss assessment procedures, and various practices affecting the operations of insurance agencies.

Participants also exchanged views on masking practices, unauthorized use of insurance systems, grievances arising from policy cancellation and refund procedures, challenges policyholders face when exercising their right of withdrawal, insufficient awareness regarding power-of-attorney procedures, and the impact of central agency practices on the sector.

The meeting emphasized the importance of stronger coordination and cooperation among insurance agencies operating in Bandırma in addressing common industry challenges. Participants reached a consensus on the need to act collectively within the legal framework to pursue solutions. It was also considered beneficial to prepare official correspondence to the relevant institutions, accompanied by reminders regarding existing legislation and current practices.

Given the productive outcomes of the meeting, participants proposed organizing a broader regional consultation in the future with the participation of insurance sector representatives from Gönen, Manyas, and Erdek. The objective is to expand discussions on common industry issues, develop more comprehensive solution proposals, and strengthen regional cooperation.

The Bandırma Chamber of Commerce will continue to organize sectoral consultation meetings and work closely with relevant stakeholders to contribute to resolving the challenges faced by its members and the insurance industry.
