The Voice of Women in Software Rises from Bandırma
The university and the business world have joined forces for an important European Union project aimed at training women as qualified professional personnel in the software and informatics sectors, increasing their participation in employment, and enhancing their entrepreneurship capacities in Bandırma.
Within the scope of the project titled “Empowerment of Women in the Technology Sector Based on Human Rights and Development of Responsible Business Capacity,” whose application will be carried out by the Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Foundation, a cooperation protocol was signed between Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University and the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce.
Prepared with the slogan “The Voice of Women in Software,” the project holds great importance in terms of evaluating European Union funds in line with the needs of Bandırma and the South Marmara Region and training qualified human resources for the future sectors of the region.
The cooperation protocol of the project was signed by Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz and Bandırma Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Bahadır Çolak, while Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Erçakar and Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Serel and Bandırma Chamber of Commerce Project Coordinator Yağmur Sungur also participated in the signing ceremony. With the protocol, it is aimed to bring together the academic power of the university and the sectoral experience of the business world.
EU Funds Will Be Used for Bandırma's Qualified Human Resources
Developing qualified human resources, which has become one of the most important elements of economic development today, is also among the main headings of the European Union's supports focused on employment, education, entrepreneurship, and equal opportunities.
In line with this understanding, the prepared project constitutes an important example of using EU funds for the local needs of Bandırma and South Marmara.
Thanks to the project, it is aimed to prepare young women for the software and informatics sectors, which are shown among the professions of the future, increase women's employment in the region, and train qualified professional personnel needed by the business world.
In this respect, the project carries the quality of being an important investment in Bandırma's technology and human resources infrastructure, beyond being merely a training program.
15 Female Actors Will Be Brought to the Software and Informatics Sectors
Within the scope of the project, 15 young women residing in South Marmara, under the age of 35, university graduates, and enthusiastic about directing their careers in the software sector will be selected.
In addition to software development and technical skills, participants will be provided with training in areas such as entrepreneurship, career planning, CV preparation, interview techniques, technical English, digital rights, labor law, prohibition of equality and discrimination, mobbing and harassment in the workplace, rights-seeking and application mechanisms.
Thus, it is aimed not only for participants to acquire technical knowledge but also to grow as female professionals who are ready for working life, the business world, and the international technology sector, who know their rights and can shape their own career paths.
University and Business World Meet in the Same Project
Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University academicians will take part in the training activities of the project. While academic knowledge and technical training are carried out with the contributions of the university, the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce will undertake the coordination and operation of the project.
With this cooperation, it is aimed to bring the academic capacity of the university and the needs of the business world in the region together on the same ground.
With this aspect, the project is expected to be a concrete model of university-business world cooperation and set an example for different sectors in the upcoming period.
Sector Inspections Will Be Made in Istanbul and Ankara
In addition to the training process of 15 female trainees, monitoring and inspection trips to be organized to Istanbul and Ankara will ensure that they closely get to know the important centers of the technology and informatics sectors.
It is aimed that participants come together with sector representatives, see working environments on-site, examine entrepreneurship and employment opportunities, and develop their professional networks thanks to company network days and mentor meetings planned to be organized at the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce.
European Experience for 3 Successful Women
The Germany program will constitute the international dimension of the project.
3 female trainees who are successful during the training process will be taken to Germany and find the opportunity to examine the technology and informatics ecosystem in Europe on-site.
Thanks to this program, it is aimed for participants to closely see working models, technology entrepreneurship, and sectoral practices in different countries and gain an international career vision.
An Investment in Bandırma's Future
One of the most important goals of the project is to contribute to training the qualified human resources that Bandırma and South Marmara will need in future sectors while increasing the representation of women in the software and informatics sectors.
In particular, bringing European Union resources to the region through projects targeting local needs is evaluated as an important opportunity in terms of increasing employment, developing professional capacity, strengthening women's participation in economic life, and growing the technology ecosystem.
With the project planned to be implemented in cooperation with the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce and Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, it is aimed that “The Voice of Women in Software” rises from Bandırma and women take part as strong actors in the technology sector.
The signed protocol became the first step of an important cooperation aimed at using European Union resources for the development of Bandırma and the region, strengthening women's employment, and training qualified human resources for the professions of the future.
