REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP HELD IN BANDIRMA

The Regional Development Workshop, organized by the Trakya Universities Union (TÜB) and hosted by Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, brought together representatives from public institutions, universities, professional organizations, and the business community.

The opening session, held at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, was attended by Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu, Rector of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Prof. Dr. İsmail Boz, Rector of Balıkesir University Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, Secretary General of the Trakya Universities Union Prof. Dr. Ünzile Kurt, along with representatives of various public institutions and organizations.

In his opening remarks, Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu emphasized the significant role universities play in regional development, trade, exports, and employment. He noted that the region’s potential in areas such as agriculture, industry, tourism, and logistics can be further enhanced through collaboration and a shared vision.

Representing the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce at the workshop were Bahadır Çolak, Chairman of the Board, Kıymet Abanos, Chair of the Women Entrepreneurs Council, and Council Member Sırma Şahin.

As part of the workshop, participants engaged in thematic working groups covering logistics, foreign trade, tourism, SMEs, university–industry collaboration, environment and sustainability, access to finance, agriculture, and sports. The discussions focused on policy recommendations and cooperation opportunities that would contribute to the region’s economic and social development.

As the Bandırma Chamber of Commerce, we will continue to support initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development of our region, represent the expectations of our members and the business community on relevant platforms, and strengthen cooperation with our stakeholders.
